The Signs of Language – A podium for interpreting LIS
The text I’m referring to is the transcription of a recorded interview with philosopher Gilles Deleuze on the topic of communication and the act of creation. A work of art is no t an instrument of communication. A work of art has noth ing to do with communication.
A work of art literally does not contain even minimal infor mation. There is instead a fundamental affinity between a work of art and the act of resistance. This for sure. It has something to do with informat ion and co mmunication in sofar as it is an act of resistance . What is this mysterious relationship between a work of art and a n act of resistance , if the men who are resisting have neither the time nor perhaps the culture necessary to have so much as a minimal relations hip with art?
