The Seed Guardians
During the workshop of the 2018 ASF (Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste) summer camp, a 2×2 m. drawing was created showing several of the leading figures talked about during the journey of memory
Given the distinctive setting of Casa Giubileo, I decided to underline the importance of the flora and of its inhabitants by coming up with a portrait, with the characteristics of traditional art, through the use of food for birds, the inhabitants of the woods. The drawing was made with the use of a projector on a wooden stand of the size stated above, identifying through the drawing the areas to be covered with the colored backgrounds, using millet, wheat, oats, sunflower seeds… The face is then constructed with a mosaic like technique
The idea that the work will later be reabsorbed by nature, and that it can thus serve a double visual function, is meant to underline the evanescent nature of memory, which, if not stimulated and fed, fades until every trace is lost.
